Meet My Best Friend!

Featuring....Ashley!

In honor of my best friend coming to town I'd like you guys to meet her and I'll take you down memory lane. Now just to be clear, I moved away from my hometown (a small town in Northern California) to Las Vegas 5 years ago and we see each other on average every six months; so this is a BIG deal. I'm giddy like my first time riding a pony!

How it all started...

We met in the 3rd grade in the advanced math class (little nerds, I know).  At our elementary school  we would switch to a different class for math and reading, depending on your level (hence the advance class). Ashley had to come over to my classroom for math and she would race another girl to get to the empty seat next me me. She now admits that "sometimes I let the other girl win on purpose." She's always cautious of other people's feelings, what a sweetheart.

....and as they say, the rest was history.

We grew up side by side, literally. Friends and family started knowing us as "Ashley and Amber" not just "Ashley" or "Amber" but always together. We did everything together, and I mean everything. After school, her mom Aunite Debbie, I call her, would pick us up and we would go back to their house. I practically lived at her house, in fact I did for awhile. I loved it! Her family became my family and we were inseparable (and still are despite the distance!). Mama Debbie started referring to us as Oprah and Gayle because we had that type of relationship- we just got each other. It's still a toss up between who is Oprah and who is Gayle. And throughout the years we have made a lifetime of memories, just like Oprah and Gayle!

Over the years together we have...
  • Attended the same school K-8th grade
  • Grew up going to the lake every summer
  • Rode bikes and made our own riding trails
  • Gone on vacation together- L.A. to Nashville
  •  Our first concert- Paul McCartney
  • Countless birthdays...and many many more!
  •  On the same cheerleading team- 4th grade
  • Lots of road trips
  • Hardships- divorces, deaths, finical stresses, 9/11 and more
  • Graduated- same middle school, separate high schools
  • Had the chicken pox at the same time
  • Went to Prom Junior year
  • Encouraged social media- she made me get a Youtube account, I forced her to get a Facebook
  • Got our first cell phones
  • Countless holidays- Christmas, 4th of July, Easter, Thanksgiving, New Years, etc.
  • Became adults (sigh)
  • Encouraged and expanded our cooking skills (we make the best BBQ chicken pizza)
  • Crushes, breakups, boyfriends and everything in between
  • Moves- from across town to separate states
  • Every trend known to mankind- Abercrombie and Fitch obsession, skater shoes, myspace and we loved boy bands
  • LOTS of firsts- job, car, bank account, bra, boyfriend, apartment, etc.
  • Had a childhood FULL of memories!
As you can tell we grew up side by side and I loved every second of it. And the best part is this is only the beginning, we still have a lifetime to go!

Some pictures along the way...

Matching outfits! (we were too cool for school) us around 9 years old

We even double dated

I was there to witness her name change. Yay!

Happy and terrified on Space Mountain

Pictures from her visit here! It was great we got to shop, talk and lay by the pool. What more could a girl ask for?

This captures our friendship perfectly. Always laughing, holding onto one another

All in all, I couldn't get through life without Ash. Cheers to best friends!

{A little something I believe in}

In honor of the first post, I decided to tell you guys about a few things I <3. Theses things are products I keep buying over and over or would buy all over again because that's how much I LOVE them.

1. The first is my Ninja Pulse Blender- I bought this beauty over a year ago on a whim and I fell in love with it first use. Since it has heated up in Vegas I use it almost everyday. I usually make vegan smoothies with it but it can do so much more than that. It makes my smoothies dreamy-creamy and zero chunks of ice or fruit. Not to mention clean up is so easy- you can put all 3 pieces (blade, pitcher and lid) in the dishwasher . This thing is simply amazing. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

2.  Not Your Mother's Thermal Spray- I stumbled upon this product several months ago and have bought it multiple times. I love it; it smells incredible! I think it does a pretty well doing its job. Also, it isn't too expensive (about $5 at Target or WalMart). This one is a winner!

3. Orbit Sweet Mint Gum- I have bought this stuff for YEARS and hands down it's my favorite! The flavor lasts for awhile and it doesn't fall apart after chewing for while. It says what it does- it really does clean my mouth! I have recently started buying it in packs of 3 because I go through so much of it. Friends and family are so used to me having it, I have turned some people on to it and now they buy it too!

4. Demarle cookware- Fresh out of Europe this company is outstanding. They make a variety of baking/cooking-ware that is high quality with unlimited uses. Demarle has practically revolutionized the kitchen. Anyone and everyone can use it: celebrity chefs to stay-at-home moms! A good friend of my gave me the Silpat as a gift and it blew my mind. I have made everything on it from sweet potatoes to homemade chocolate chip cookies! I want to buy more Demarle because it is that amazing.
5. Mossimo Tank Tops- Found at your local Target, I love these shirts. These have been my summer go-to. It seems so silly to rave about something so well known and simple. Just in the past few weeks I have gone back to buy more, now I have them in just about every color (at least it seems that way). I bought other tanks tops at a different store and I defiantly prefer Target's. Not only are they easy for summer but they can be dressed up or worn casual. And the best part? You can wear a normal bra with them! No need to fuss over finding a razor back or wear and uncomfortable strapless bra. I love these tanks and I'll be wearing them all summer long. Oh, and currently they are on sale at Target for $6 (till the 20th of July I believe).

All in all, I LOVE all of these products and continue to love them. Thanks for reading and I'll catch y'all later. Have a beautiful day!

Hugs & kisses,
